Public Service
Councilman Renegar began his service representing municipal District 5 on the Prattville City Council in 1996. He chairs the Leisure Services Committee, as well as serving on the committees for Personnel and Finance. Councilman Renegar’s significant accomplishments while serving on the City Council are numerous: David D. Whetstone, Jr. Sports Complex, Overlook Memorial Park, Capitol Hill Golf Complex, Downtown Restoration, street paving projects that have resulted in most of the streets in District 5 having been repaired and repaved in the last seven years, promoting new business through economic development while properly managing this growth with public safety and welfare in mind, and establishing a Boys and Girls Club in our community.
Civic Involvement
Councilman Renegar has held adult leadership positions in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for the past 29 years. He is an active member and also an adult leader for the children and youth of First United Methodist Church. Councilman Renegar has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for the past twelve years. He is a past President and Charter Member of the Sunrise Rotary Club. He is Chairman of the Board and a Charter Member of the Boys and Girls club of Prattville. He has been the Manager, Coach and a Board member for Dixie Youth Baseball for ten years. He is also an active participant in Habitat for Humanity.
Military
Councilman Renegar is a proud veteran of the United States Army. Councilman Renegar is a decorated combat veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He has the distinction of being the only combat veteran currently serving on the Prattville City Council. He also remains and active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Education
Councilman Renegar holds a Business Administration degree from completing his undergraduate studies at The University of Tennessee and Middle Tennessee State University. He completed his graduate studies at Auburn University where his concentration was business administration, finance, marketing and economics.
Personal
Councilman Renegar has been married to Carla Swain Renegar of Mobile for 39 years. He has two children. His son, Christopher M. Renegar, is a graduate of Prattville High School and Troy State University. Christopher is currently self-employed. His daughter, Lisa M. Renegar, is also a graduate of Prattville High School and Troy State University Montgomery. She has completed law school at Jones School of Law and is currently employed with a Montgomery law firm. Mr. Renegar is the grandfather of Ella Elizabeth Renegar, born October 1, 2007. Ella is the daughter of Christopher and Heather Renegar. Councilman Renegar has been a resident of Prattville for 29 years.
